BIG PINEY MIDDLE SCHOOL

STEAMakers Workshop 2018

Eurekus co-founders Monica & Tyler Aiello returned to Big Piney, Wyoming for a week-long workshop with middle school students. Students dove deep into STEAM and Maker education - fusing creative design, engineering and electronics. 6th graders explored Earth’s systems and created mini terrarium enhanced with LED grow lights. 7th grade investigated more complex circuit design while making light-reacting bots and chargers. And, 8th grade had a blast designing mini-propeller powered racers while engaging in the design process. Staff had a ball during this immersive PD for a wonderfully enriching week.

STEAMakers Workshop 2017

In September of 2017, Eurekus co-founders Monica & Tyler Aiello headed to Big Piney, Wyoming for an exciting week-long workshop with middle school students. Working alongside the schools veteran science teacher Kim Tanner, learners explored STEM topics through dynamic arts and Maker-integration. 6th graders learned about our solar system by creating art projects and designing pneumatic rockets. 7th graders invented hi-tech dioramas to illuminate life science topics using motors and LEDs. And, 8th graders research global energy consumption data and synthesized discoveries while creating kinetic mobiles. From exploring space science through pastels to learning to solder and design circuits, both students and teachers enjoyed their creative and collective discovery.
