LOS ANGELES COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION

NASA TEAL WORKSHOP

We are beyond honored to partner with the amazing folks at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). In October 2017, we joined our colleagues at the Center for Distance and Online Learning (Cdol) to host a day-long, dynamic professional learning workshop. Over 200 educators across 70 districts united to explore STEAM & Maker practice as part of the county's TEAL initiative (Technology Enhanced Arts Learning). Tasked with a mission to foster equitable, innovative and collaborative learning, TEAL galvanizes arts-integration across the LA region in new and meaningful ways. Our participants explored how art can transform understanding our planet from a scientific and humanistic perspective. Leaders also dove into Maker-based learning while building engineering literacy with NASA's Simple Machines Shoebox Rover. We even explored circuits and LEDs during our design challenges. Huge thanks to LACOE, LA Arts Commission and LA's Parks & Recreation for making this amazing day possible!
