MISSIONMAKERS HIGH SCHOOL WORKSHOP

JACKSON HOLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL MINIMESTER

High school students had a blast collaborating with STEAM Mentors Tyler and Monica Aiello during this action-packed 3 day mini-mester. Student explored space science, mission design and engineering through NASA's exciting STEAM and Maker-based programs. Through the lens of visual art, students toured the worlds of our solar system. They then worked in teams of three to create kinetic models and motorized mobiles of NASA's new mission OSIRIS-REx traveling to asteroid Bennu. Each student then deepened their inquiry and synthesized their learning with the creation of their own lander inspired by the InSight mission to Mars. Students had a ball designing with emerging technologies, applying physics concepts and engineering kinetic prototypes while discovering together.
